NRW Nordpunkt

For Rahden and Pr. Ströhen, it was truly no longer news that where peaceful cows graze on the border with Lower Saxony, there is actually a small attraction hidden away. In the village of Pr. Ströhen lies the northernmost point of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located 52 degrees 32 minutes north latitude and about 8 degrees and 39 minutes east longitude. The northernmost point of NRW can be reached by the Auenland-Draisine and offers an idyllic resting place. On the site there is the 'Nordpunkt-Haus', which was opened at the beginning of May 2004, an information board for excursionists as well as a stone table in the shape of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Besides some sundials you can also find the artwork 'ZeichenSetzung' in the form of a wind harp, which was created in the context of the 2nd LandArt-Festival in the district of Minden-Lübbecke.

The Heimatfreunde Pr. Ströhen are happy to organize guided tours or hospitality at the north point on request.
